+ + + Avenal Harrisson is a gentle-spirited and fairly spontanious girl who drifts across the screen like a spectre's shadow. She's open minded, but choosy about who she talks to; she doesn't mind what you look like, or how you dress, you just need to be able to hold a good conversation with her.
Allot of people would describe her as unflappable, whilst she would personally describe herself as "cheerful". She never smiles when she doesn’t need to any more. She doesn’t see the point. So when she smiles, you know she means it. Despite Avenal's gloomy front she is a very sweet girl, a little shy, and a young woman of not many words. She may come off as being a bitch at times, but often proves to be much more mundane.
She has an avid concern for the welfare of the planet, and more importantly, the animals inhabiting it. She is not afriad to speak her mind.
Although most stereotypical tomboys wear no makeup or jewelry, wear only jeans, baseball caps, have scraggly hair, etc. this is not nessisarily the case with Avenal. She likes to look pretty sometimes, enjoys wearing make up and dressing up in ‘pretty things’. She just doesn’t care what other girls or people think of her. She doesn’t cooperate with “normal” girl activities.
So she might be a bit hard to get to know, but once she is comfortable around you, you'll find she really is a pretty good friend - a little unforgiving at times, but she'll always have your back none the less. + + +

+ + + While Avenal gives the impression of being shallow and concerned only with guys in general and good looking guys in particular, much of what she says is rather insightful, although a bit cynical. What's interesting about Avenal is, in spite of her tendency to speak of boys in a dismissive way, she reacts strongly toward's other girls when she feels that they are being unfair, or mean, to their spouses. There was one time as she was waitressing that a couple were bickering at a table and she strolled right up to them and started defending the guy, telling the woman that she was being a... well it wasn't a very friendly word, and stringing the guy along.
For someone who so often expresses the opinion that guys are like toys, to be used and discarded, Avenal is very soft-hearted in practice; or at least in her advice when helping others out with their own relationship problems. It's never made clear whether or not Avenal follows her own advice or not. However there are indications Avenal has had some experience with boys and probably has lost her virginity. Since she appears to have had a number of boyfriends, it's likely this is why she's cynical. Even so, her dim view of males in general doesn't appear to off-set what may be well-hidden optimistic or romantic streak. After all, her advice to anyone on her own opinions of guys, indicate she believes a "good" guy deserves a break. + + +
