Marcus walked down the sidewalk, ignoring everyone and everything. There was a light drizzle, which seemed omnipresent in this gloomy little backwater of the world. Why was he even here again? Oh, that's right, he was going to find Aro and drag him back to Volterra. The whole coven had been in an uproar when Aro had gone missing, everyone had decided to simultaneously panic and nothing was getting done. On top of all that, he had gotten a headache, a big one. Could vampires even get headaches? Maybe it was psychosomatic, but there it was, pounding away at his temples.
As if things couldn't get any worse, Sulpicia, semi-distressed by her husband's rather sudden departure, had moved into his room and immediately made herself comfortable. He'd had to stress over and over to one of the guards that she was not to touch anything of Didyme's under pain of death. It was more than the normally calm and collected statue that was Marcus could bear. Most of the Guard were afraid of him now... mostly because of that rather lovely little message he'd left on Aro's cell phone shortly before taking off himself to bring back the ancient leader who'd apparently gained a sense of wanderlust.
Caius had recorded it just for the sole purpose of proving that, if something irritated him enough, Marcus was capable of showing emotion.
Marcus was sitting in the throne room with Caius and the Guard. Everyone was in a panic, making a loud, confused din that was a muddle of every type of voice, accent, and language imanginable. Marcus ran his fingers through his already touseled hair as he listened to Aro's phone ringing over and over until the voicemail picked up. This sent many people, particularly Jane and Renata into a whirlwind of chaos and confusion. Marcus waited for a lull in the noise before beginning to speak, "Aro, I know you're there, pick up your phone. In case you can't hear, the world is ending." For effect, he held the phone out to the noise of the throne room as Alec and Caius were trying to establish calm and order. "I think I have a feeling where you are, but I have no idea what the hell you think you're going to accomplish, but you're needed here more. Caius is trying to keep everyone calm! If you don't come home, by Zeus, I will personally fly out there and drag you back myself!
" The noise seemed to multiply and he couldn't even hear himself think. "I WANT COMPLETE SILENCE NOW!!!!!!!!!!" The room fell dead silent. He must have looked and sounded as pissed as he felt because everyone ran and cowered behind Caius and Alec who themselves looked pretty shocked. No one in recent history had heard Marcus Volturi raise his voice above a whisper, so he guessed he shouldn't have been surprised. He was mad though and ended the message with a very curt "call me now."He found a nearby bench and practically collapsed on it, not caring that it was slightly damp from the rain and sighed very loudly. What was this world coming to? Aro's capriciousness was getting on his nerves, and he began to wonder just why he'd stuck around for as long as he had. He certainly didn't owe Aro or Caius anything, so why? For what purpose was he there? Aside from the occasional and painful guilt trips about Didyme that he constantly suffered, there really was nothing holding him to the coven... except for his Library. The three millenia he'd spent compiling that library was not intended to be wasted. He couldn't just pack everything up in boxes and get the hell out of dodge. Some volumes in his collection were very old or very fragile and it would take years to clear everything out. Records had to be kept, packaging inspected, several trucks would have to be hired. Then there were his videogames... he couldn't very well leave those behind. And then there was another problem: where would he put everything once it had all been removed? It wasn't like he had another house tucked away somewhere or anything. Ugh... what an irritating, vexing dilemma... And then there was Sulpicia. Thank the gods he had the only key to the library. He wouldn't be able to bear it if she started poking her nose around in there. So it should be safe from his brother's nosy wife... thank the gods for small miracles. He pulled his phone out again and dialed Aro's number, once again getting voice mail. "Call me now," he said, disconnecting.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Esme sighed as she walked down the street of Forks Washingtion. Today was the perfect day to go into town, the weather was just right for her. The air had a nice brisk flavor to it and the sky was covered in thick gray clouds, but the rain had not started to fall. She wasent worried about weather at all it was supposed to be overcast for the rest of the day.
Esme wanted to get out of the house, more to people watch them anything, She placed a calm smile on her face as she walked throught the downtown. She waved and said hello to the brave people who said hello. To most people she was Dr. Cullens wife with his werid family, which was completly true, They were werid on the surface because she and her husband have moved to a small town and adopted five teenagers,
But underneath the Cullens were actually odd because they wernt human. The Cullens were vampires except they didhunt humans. They only drank animal blood, they had lived incospiocusly for almost a hundread years till their youngest looking son fell in love with a human girl. In the end, all of the Cullens had ended up all being safe, and the had gained not only another daughter but also a grandaughter.
Esme breathed a sigh of relif when she saw the forks coffe shop and diner in her sights she needed to get out of the rain that had began to fall onto the ground, she just wanted to get warm she knew she would have to buy something but she wasnet really worried thats what pockets were for. Esme was the queen of placing food in her pockets.
Esme stopped dead when she smelled the diffrence in the air, it was the smell of another vampire and she knew it couldent be anyone in her family they were all working or in school, she was shocked as she continued towards the diner and saw who the person was, She immedinaly regoized him as Marcus a memeber of the Voulutri, she wondered what he was doing here, she had a seen a few of the guards and such around but she knew they were just looking for Aro wherever he was.
She sighed as she knew she should go over and say hello she didnt want to be rude. She walked over and sat down on the bench next to him. "Hello there Marcus, what brings you to our side of the world?" she asked with a smile trying to keep the mood light and try not to make him wary of her.

He smelled her before he saw her. The vegitarians had a unique, almost sweet floral scent to him, one that he could pick out immediately. This one's scent was of gardenias and lillies, very delicate and feminine. He looked up, spotting her. Carlisle's wife, Esme, no doubt wanting some peace and quiet from her sometimes loud household. She sat down with him, an amazing feat, in his opinion, if anyone recognized who he was, he or she usually turned and ran in the opposite direction as fast as possible. However, he knew that she had a motherly streak to her, one that was kind and welcoming. He was grateful that, of the possible members of the coven he could have run into, it was this one.
He acknowledged her greeting. "Signora Esme..." he said with a small incline of his head, "I come searching for my errant brother, Aro seems so fond of wandering these days. Jane and Renata are in an absolute frenzy. I wish to speak with him, persuade him to return, Caius and I cannot maintain the same calm and control that he can." Plus there was the issue with Sulpicia that Marcus wanted to chew Aro out about. For the sake of appearances and reputation, he fell back into his soft voice and emotionless face. "He has not been answering his phone, even though I have tried calling several times. His wife has apparently decided to move into my chambers for some reason, and I wished to ask him the reason for it as she refused to tell me."

Esme sighed as she walked over and sat down next to Marcus, he defiantly smelled diffrent from anyone else. The Volturi definatly had a spicy smell that wasent unappealing but was strong. Esme didnt know all that much about him except that he was a brother and a closet gamer according to Edward. Esme didnt judge so she didnt hold anything against him, she just wanted to be nice and talk to him.
She sighed when he said he was looking for Aro and for that she couldent be any help. She knew he was in town but that was all she knew. "My dear, I heard Aro was in town but I havent seen him, but im pretty sure he is in town which has caused a uproar at my hone" she said with a sigh she didnt know what the Voulturi was doing her but she didnt like it all that much. " I know, my husband has tried to contact him but he could not get through we are all very curious to know why he is here" she said with a smile. "I can only imagine why she has moved in with you" she said with a laugh she could totally imagine it. She smiled again loving the feeling of the rain

Marcus sighed. So neither she nor anyone else in her family had caught sight of Aro.
Drat.
"Thank you, I am sure if I stay around here for a little while, I will find him eventually," he said, running his hands through his hair. This situation was a little more then he could handle in terms of stress. He was silent for a moment, trying to remember something, anything he could say that would keep him in the Cullens' good graces during the duration of his stay in the area. He really had no quarrel with them, he thought that Aro's obsession with them was rather stupid and juvenile, but then again, there were times when Aro wasn't known for maturity, a quality that was alternatively amusing, endearing, or annoying as hell. Then he recalled something rather important regarding the other creatures that resided in the area. "In compliance with your treaty, I will refrain from hunting humans in the area," he told her, trying to convey that he wasn't as much of an ass as Aro or Caius were known to be at times.
Then, the thoughts turned back to Sulpicia... in his rooms... doing... well, he didn't know what she was doing and he didn't particularly want to find out. "I assure you I do not know... however, there has been some strain between them for the past few years, their relationship is or has changed, and it confounds me... now... I do not know what to do with her, my own wife has been dead for centuries..." His voice trailed off until it was less than a whisper. It was stupid of him to bring Didyme into the conversation and he didn't understand why he had done such a thing to begin with. Blast Carlisle's wife for being so easy to talk to... for being so much like Didyme in terms of personality.

Aro's concentration was solely on strength and stability. He was clinging on to the edge of a cliff, perched, hanging over the rocks, the swirling black water beneath him crashing and splashing in the billowing breeze. No matter how it looked, he had no intention of jumping - even if that had been his plan, it would have been an incredibly stupid one. He knew that his vampiric powers would not allow him to die easily, and all that jumping the cliff would result in is unecessary pain. Besides, Aro was in no way wishing to end his life - he merely loved that slight pound of adrenaline through his body as he clung on to the edge. The strong sea breeze helped to clear his mind, helping his thought to come through much more easily.
He closed his eyes, and drew in a long, slow breath, tasting the salt as he did so. His pure concentration was, however, broken. In his pocket, his cell phone vibrated, the infernal buzzing causing him to emit a soft sound between a sigh and a growl. His temperament was far too calm for it to be a full growl, and this adrenaline rush had allowed him to relax even further than usual. He let go of the edge with one had, easily holding on with the other, and reached into his pocket, although he knew exactly who would be calling. The only person he had received regular calls from was Marcus, practically begging him to return to Volterra, or he would drag him back. Aro smirked lightly at the thought... as if Marcus would lay a finger on him. He had tried in the past, yet Aro always managed to get his own way. He could be very persuasive when he set his mind to it.
He silenced the phone quickly, slipping it back into his pocket. In the blink of an eye, he flung himself back over the cliff in one fluid, graceful motion, landing lightly on his feet some fifteen feet from the edge. He simply had no understanding as to why Volterra always fell apart when he left. Yes, he was seen to be the leading figure of the mighty Volturi, yet surely Marcus and Caius were more than qualified for the job? The two of them together were a force not to be reckoned with, and so why did they seem to lose all control.
It was a frustrating thought, which occupied his mind throughout his steady walk back into town...

Esme sighed as she watched Marcus's face drop when she didnt have any information for him. It wasent that she didnt want to help the Voltouri because that would mean Aro could go home and her family would have to deal with them in her town anymore threating her family. She smiled when he said he would find him evenutally. "Unless he dosent want to be found, you know Aro" she said with a small smile she felt like she knew him from the small amount of time she had spent in his presence. She sighed when he said he wouldent hunt in her town because of the treaty but that wasent really good enough. "We ask that you all dont hunt in the state of washingtion if at all possible" she said trying to be diplomatic about it.
Esme couldent help but laugh when he talked about Aro's wife moving into his quaters, that was a humorous picture to her because why would she move in there? she sighed she didnt want to be rude and laugh but she just couldent help it. "I am sure the woman is just lonely without her husband" she said with a soft smile. "You never thought to get another wife Marcus?" she asked she didnt actually know she asked because she thought many of them would have more then one wife. "Cant you just kick her out you are a member of the Voulouri" she said as if it was the simplest answer which she thought it was
