As Esme spoke, Like always Evelyn listened, she gave asmall shake of her head as she heard Esme 's apologetic words, Evelyn didnt want this woman feeling dsorry for her, and she didnt want esme apologising for somthing that clearly wasnt her fault. As the woman leant across the table and placed her luke warm hand upon Evelyn's cold one, Evelyn flintched ever so slightly, she wasnt too keen on people toucking he, although that wasnt the oly reason to why she had flintched, fer Evelyn's hands were rather sore, glancing to the womans golden eyes, she wasnt expecting the next words that escaped the pretty ladies lips. Her eyes widened ever so slightly and the beautiful piercing blue colour of her eyesturned some what icy, glazed over slightly with tears.
No she couldnt do this, she simplycouldnt do this any longer, no matter how much she trusted this woman, she simply couldnt do this, not now, she glanced to the mug that held her hot chocolate, slowly pulling her hand gely from Esme's touch. "I umm, i think i should go, my...my father will be wondering where am" she lied as she went to stand herself up, "th...thank you for the drink" she said to her as she went to move from the seat that she was sat in.
On hearing the of the words that Escaped Esme's lips, about the fact that she was beaten by her husband, and the fact that Evelyn was only the second person she had ever told, Evelyn couldnt help but woer just who else knew about Esme's tragady. Evelyn paused, swallowing hard as she thought bout the words, running away was what Evelyn don best, and it never got her anywhere, perhaps it was time, time to fnally open herself up and talk about this, after all who better to talk to then Esme....Evelyn placed her sore daint hand upon the table as she slowly glanced over her dainty shoulder toward Esme as a single tear slowly trickled down her pale and bruised cheek "you...you've been through this?" she asked in a weak whisper, she needed to know she wasnt alone, and that she could trust Esme

Esme sighed as she asked about her dad agains she knew she shouldent have but she couldnet help it, she wanted to know what happened to the girl and she felt this was the way to get her to open up, she knew that it could go either way. The girl could either run away or stay and listen and they could talk about what was going on with her.
She winced when she touched the girl, she knew she must have had cuts or burns on her hands. Esme didnt mean to hurt her she just wanted to reassure her. She sighed when she got up and was going to leave. She didnt want her to but she wasent going to stop her. Some people just cant talk about certain things. Esme sighed as she told her about what had happened to her, she knew she needed her to know becasue it might make it easier for her to tell Esme what had happend.
Esme smiled sadly when Evelyn sat back down, she knew now that she was ready to talk what had happened but Esme felt that she should share her story a bit with her first. "Yes I have a long time ago when I was younger. I married a man i thought was good it didnt love him but he made my parents happy so we got married. Soon enough he showed his true colors and began hititng me I didnt know what to do till one day I tried to kill myself by jumping off a cliffe and my current husband saved me" She said telling her story her voice breaking. "Evelyn whats happening to you?" She asked letting her know it was ok to tell her story

Evelyn slowly sat herself back down, a small gasp escaped her lips as she ehard Esme;s story, she had to silenc herself by placing her hand gently over her lips, she stared at Esme with teary eyes, she knew now, that she wasnt alone, she could see that Esme was a good woman, that she could trust her, that she could talk to her., and it seemed maybe.....just maybe Esme could help...atleast help her mentally, she was about to ask why she did it, why she jumped, and how she was saved, but then the question left Esme's lips and she had to answer, she glanced around the coffee shop, with her hand gently fiddling iwth the locket around her slender neck as she glanced down at her mug once more "I ummm........I" she began, but struggled to speak, her other hand began to fiddle with the tips of her long curly hair as she continued to stare at her mug, this was a habit Evelyn had, when she became nervouse she fiddled with her hair in this way, she licked her lips a little before nibbling upon her lower lip and trying again "My....My Papa....he umm...he's a mean drunk......I used to hear him and mama fighting all the time....I umm...I tried to stop him one night....and thats when it started....he...he turned on me...and ummm...he's done it ever since..." she paused for a moment needing to turn her face away for a few moments as she composed herself, inhaling deeply she then began again "he..he blames me for my mothers death....he tells me its my fault.....that i was the one that killed her, that im the devil and i deserve what he gives me" she told Esme as she glanced up to her face now, her teary eyes spilling the small droplets of salty water down her pale cheeks. Esme sighed she knew she had to tell Evelyn her story to get her to talk to Esme about what she was feeling. Esme was sure Evelyn was being abused. She didnt know by who, but she knew it was happening and she knew she had to do something to stop it. She didnt know what, but she knew she couldent let this girl get abused. Esme sighed as she started to listen to her story. Esmes eyes turned red and if she could cry she would be bawling her eyes out.She got up and walked to the other side of the table. Now that the girl was crying she had to do something. She wrapped her arms around her gingerly. She patted and stroked her hair. "Shh, Evelyn its ok its not your fault that you mom died. Its not anyones fault. Your father should not be hitting you or getting drunk" she said soothingly. She knew she had to bring it up. "Honey I live around here, but im staying a few days in seattle i think you should stay with me and then maybe we can think of a way to get you out of your dads house" she proposed hoping she would say yes. She wanted to help her and this seemed like a good way.

Evelyn wasnt too sure, of course she wanted help, she wanted to get away, but what was she going to tell her father? where was she going to tell him she was staying? after all she had no firneds, she bit he rlower lip gently as she leant slightly into Esme's comforting arms, this woman was a stranger, but for some strange reason Evelyn trusted her, alot, and that was saying something, it was as if she had known Esme her whole life, as she paused in thought for a long few minutes, before parting her lips "I...I would like that...but...but i'll need to tell my father that i wont be home" she told her, the only thing was, Evelyn didnt have a mobile phone or anything, and well, she wasnt really all that keen on going right up to her front door, but if it would have to be done, then it would have to be done, Evelyn was just thankfull that this woman was here and willing to help her
